Extending Quest 2 Battery Life for Events
While the battery life on the Oculus Quest 2 may vary depending on usage and settings, it typically lasts about 3 hours on a single overnight charge. To maximize the VR experience during back-to-back sessions and make the most of battery life, here are some recommendations:
- Charge the device overnight. Ensure the headset is fully charged before starting a marathon of sessions.
- When turning on multiple devices for an event, check that the headset is in standby (or sleep) mode while not in use. The headset's power light will be on when it is not in standby mode. Short-press the power button to activate standby mode.
- Plan session durations and breaks around battery life.
- A single charge should last all morning. Recharge the device over lunch to accommodate afternoon sessions.
- Taking additional breaks throughout the day will give the device a chance to recharge.
- Remember to monitor battery status by pressing the Oculus button on the right controller.
- Adjust brightness. Lowering the screen brightness will extend battery life.
- Use a power bank. If you're planning extended VR sessions or need to use the headset for longer than the built-in battery allows, consider using a power bank to charge the headset while you're playing.
- Consider taking out the AA battery from the unused controller, to preserve controller life. Only one controller is needed to navigate our Promise experiences.
- If none of the above works, you can also purchase external battery packs for the Quest 2 such as Oculus Quest 2 Elite Strap with Battery or the AUBIKA Head Strap With Battery which are mentioned in this article.
