How to Update Headsets

How to Update Headsets

1. Turn on the headset and confirm it is at least 50% charged.  If it is not at least 50% charged it will not be able to accept updates.  If needed, charge the headset prior to updating.

3. Log into ArborXR or your MDM on your laptop or computer.
4. Click on “Device and Groups” to view all devices.

5. Scroll through the device list to find the one you are working with and have connected to wifi already.  It should say connected in the “Status” column.  If not, please follow the steps to reconnect the headset to wifi.

6. Update to the latest Meta OS software or confirm there are no Meta OS updates needed by checking the OS on the headset against the latest Meta OS.  Once the update is complete, the headset should restart.

To check the OS version on the headset currently, from the all device screen in Arbor showing Devices and Groups, click on the individual headset name you are working with.

A new page will pop up.

You will see "Device Information." Directly under that you will see OS Version.  The OS Version listed should match the latest Meta OS.

7. Launch the M+F app to update to the latest M+F app version.  If you update the OS on the headset, it will restart once complete.  When it turns back on, launch the M+F app.

If no Meta OS software is needed, you will need to exit the system updates area and go back into the app library.

To exit the Software Update area within System Settings on the headset, click on the 9 dots on the bottom right of the screen to enter the app Library.

Find the M+F App.  It could be in 2 possible places ("For Work" or "Unknown Sources").

Click on "For Work" in the left menu.

Then, click on ArborXR Home on the right side.

If the M+F app is here, go ahead and launch it.

If the app is not in the "For Work" section, you will need to check one more location - "Unknown Sources."
Click on the 9 dots on the bottom right of the screen to enter the app library again.

Then, click on the drop-down menu in the upper right corner of the screen that says, "Unknown Sources."

You should then see the M+F app and simply need to launch it.

8. Allow time for the modules to load once you launch the M+F app.

9. Once all modules have loaded, the M+F app should be up to date with the latest version that has been made available to you. If you're using an MDM, the latest app version will automatically be made available to you. (To check the app version in-headset, click on the lower right menu and hit "About.")

10. Confirm the app version has been updated to the latest M+F app version in Arbor XR or your MDM by clicking on the individual headset name you are working with from the all device screen in Arbor showing Devices and Groups.

Click on the Content tab.

Confirm the M+F app is the latest that has been made available to you by your Customer Success Manager. Click here for a list of announced build releases.
