How To Use the Create Tool

Generate personalized immersive training content that meets your exact needs with Create.

Moth+Flame's Create enables administrators to develop an immersive learning module through a seamless step-by-step process. Use the table of contents to skip to a specific section, or read the full guide to assist with the A to Z creation of your custom learning content.

Getting Started

  1. Navigate to https://create.mothandflamevr.com to sign in, view your previously created modules, and create new modules.
    1. Sign in using your email address and password associated with promisevr.com

  1. Once logged in, click + Create New Module to begin and name your new learning experience

Scene Setup

  1. Decide the setting, story, character personas, and goals of your module-in-the-making. If you choose AI to assist you with writing your script, you will communicate with Moth+Flame's Chatbot to brainstorm and build the foundation of your prospective training experience.
  2. The chatbot will suggest possible conflict situations and storylines based on your requests. Feel free to select from the chatbot's recommendations, or specify your own course of action.
  3. If you would like to start over or re-do a step at any point, simply ask the chatbot to start over or return to a previous step.
  4. When you finish Scene Setup, click proceed to move on to the next section.

Building the Scene

  1. In this step, you will select which character your learner will be communicating with. Choose a character and hit "Next."
  2. Then, you will select the environment in which the conversation will take place. Select an environment that fits your needs and proceed to the next section.

Script Writing

  1. In this section, you will specify the metrics by which learner response choices are valued. In a conversation moment, each learner response option will represent an optimal choice, a suboptimal choice, and a bad choice. Scoring for communication styles is automatically added.

  1. If you chose AI to generate the script for you, the script will auto-populate on the page.
  2. To write your own script, fill out each of the boxes containing character and learner responses.

  1. Once the script is created, you are able to easily add to/edit the language of the character and learner response choices.
    1. To delete a conversation moment, select the three dots at the top of each moment and click Delete moment.
    2. To add a branching event, select the three dots at the top of each moment and select "Add branching event." Notice that a branching icon will appear at the top right of the moment box.
      1. If branching is added, be sure to select an option from the "branch to" dropdown for a given response.
    3. To relocate a conversation moment to a new part of the module, click the two horizontal lines at the top of each moment and drag the moment to your desired location.
    4. To add a new conversation moment, click the + symbol beneath each moment.
  2. You must select three Key Learning Moments before proceeding to the next step. In each of these three selected moments, the learner's performance will be evaluated. See the "Feedback" section, below.
  3. When finished, select "Done editing script" to proceed to the next step.
  4. You may add additional scenes. To add a scene, hover your cursor where you would like the scene to be located in the conversation flow (between canvas items). Click the "+" icon and select "New Scene." For each new scene, you will be asked to pick the character, environment, and learning objectives.

Conditional Branching at the End of a Scene

  1.    Add a conditional branching item to the canvas and route the learner to another canvas item based on a selection they made at a moment.

Feedback

  1. In this section, you will review each of the Key Learning Moments you selected in the previous step and preview what feedback the learner will receive at the end of the experience based on their choices.
  2. For each learning objective, there is one positive piece of feedback and two constructive pieces of feedback.
  3. If a learner responds optimally, they will receive affirmation in the feedback presented to them. If they respond suboptimally, the learner is presented with information on how they could improve.

  1. The module's name can be edited on the home page. To return to the homepage, click on the Moth+Flame logo at the top left.
  2. You may edit a module's description, thumbnail, and skills in the Module Info section.
  3. Edit each item by clicking on the expand & collapse button (up and down arrows), to the left of each item name. If there is no expand & collapse button, the item is not editable.

  1. When editing the module description and thumbnail, be mindful of the set character limitations.
  2. To see how the information you enter will be displayed to the learner, click "preview asset" at the top right. To collapse the preview, click the button "preview asset" again.
    1. Note: some items, like the module skills, will not be displayed to the learner and cannot be previewed.
  3. Hit "Next" to continue to the next entity.

    1. The module’s canvas outlines the flow of the experience, allowing you to edit each component that makes up the learning experience.

    1. Individual canvas items may be deleted by hitting the trashcan icon at the far right of the canvas item block.
    2. Canvas items may be re-ordered by hovering over the item so that a blue outline appears. Then, click the blue anchor tab on the left side to drag and drop the canvas item to a new location in the module flow.

    1. To add a canvas item, hover your cursor between canvas items and select the "+" icon. Then select what type of canvas entity you would like to add (e.g. Module Welcome, Learning Objective, etc.)

    Intro Canvas Items

    1. "Voice onboarding" is not editable and is required for an experience. This canvas item allows learners to test their microphone to ensure they will be able to use their voice to navigate. They will say the following out loud, "I can speak and my words are powerful."
    2. Demographic questions can be either multiple choice or on a scale of 1-10. To enable "branching" (so that if a learner chooses a response, they are routed to a tailored next entity), click the "Branching" button at the top right. Then choose the subsequent entity that the learner will be routed to.
    3. When authoring a pre-module survey question or demographic question that is on a scale of 1-10, the words that will display below the "1" and "10" should reflect how the scale is to be interpreted. For example, a "1" could be "not confident" and "10" could be "very confident."
      1. Check the "KPI" box if you believe this survey question is a Key Performance Indicator that should be shown on this module's analytics performance page. KPIs appear toward the top of the analytics page. Measuring before vs. after confidence is an example of a KPI metric Moth+Flame often uses across our off-the-shelf learning experiences.
    4. The experience onboarding is not editable. This required screen will provide learners with general instructions on how to navigate the interactive scenario:
      1. Learners will be presented with three options.
      2. They will need to speak their choice aloud to proceed through the experience.

    1. To add a still graphic, choose "still graphic" from the list of entities. Still graphics can be added at both the intro and exit.
      1. The graphic must be 1094 px x 600 px.
      2. For best results, it should be a .png file with transparency with at least 100px padding on both sides and top/bottom.
      3. Type text into the "Narrator" box to add voice-over.

    1. To add a video, choose " Video" from the list of entities. Videos can be can be added at both the intro and exit. 360 video is only available to VR users, however regular videos can be seen by both browser player and VR users. Select "combo of both" if you would like to add a regular video for browser player and a 360 video for VR. Based on which modality the user is viewing, the video format will adapt when the "combo of both" option is selected.
      1. To add a video for browser users, the video should be in 1920x1080 aspect ratio and one of the following formats:
        1. MP4, MOV, WMV and WebM.
      2. To add a 360 video for VR users, the video should be equirectangular with a 4000 x 2000 resolution.

    Outro Canvas Items

    1. Post-scene canvas items - or outro items - include survey questions, final outcome feedback, and thank you messaging.
    2. When authoring a post-module survey question that is on a scale of 1-10, the words that will display below the "1" and "10" should reflect how the scale is to be interpreted. For example, a "1" could be "not confident" and "10" could be "very confident."
      1. Check the "KPI" box if you believe this survey question is a Key Performance Indicator that you would like floated toward the top of this module's performance page. Measuring before vs. after confidence is an example of a KPI metric Moth+Flame often uses across our off-the-shelf learning experiences.
    3. If you assigned Final Outcomes to your experience, Final Outcome Feedback can be edited in the outro section. You can choose which entity the learner should proceed to next after viewing their Final Outcome Feedback.

    1. After you finish editing, select "Go to publish"

    Publishing Your Module

    1. Select "Go to publish" from the module canvas outro items
    2. Choose whether you wish to build a desktop preview or publish to desktop & VR.
    3. Upon your selection, a window will appear with a copy-and-pastable link. Modules typically generate within 20 minutes.
    4. Return to the home page to see a publishing status of your module. If you need to retrieve the share link, click the 3-dot menu on the right side of the module box and select "Copy preview link."
