Moth+Flame VR App Release Announcement

Moth+Flame VR App Release Announcement

We are happy to announce that the latest version of our VR app, which has been renamed to Moth+Flame, is available! This update brings a range of improvements designed to enhance your learning experience on Meta Quest devices. Here’s what you can expect:

Key Features & Improvements

  • Hands-Free, Gaze-Driven Navigation: Say goodbye to controllers! With gestures activated in the Meta Quest OS, you can now use gaze to select experiences and answer pre- and post-survey questions.
  • Controller Onboarding View: This view now appears at the first start, before module selection. It can be activated manually via the hamburger menu button for subsequent sessions. Onboarding instructions can switch between controller and gaze onboarding depending on which is currently activated.
  • Automatic Reset Timer: If your headset is stationary for two unbroken minutes, the app will reset back to the Module Selection screen.
  • Gesture Navigation: Use Meta's hand gestures inside a conversation to do the following:
    • Pinch and hold (with palm facing you): recenter
    • Pinch tap (with palm facing you): open Meta's universal menu to exit the app
  • Alphabetical Module Listing: Modules are now listed alphabetically for easier navigation.
  • Seamless Voiceover Navigation: Slides with voiceovers automatically advance once the voiceover completes, plus a 2-second tail.
  • Improved UI for Module Selection: Modules are now selected by a separate "Start" button next to each title.
  • Invisible Gaze Cursor: The gaze cursor is invisible unless hovering close to a button.
  • Module Select Skewer Button: A new skewer button has been added where module version information now lives. The Bookmark & Resume feature is also located here so that if a module is started and stopped mid-way, you can re-start the experience where you left off.

Additional Features & Improvements

  • Recenter Button: When you are facing an incorrect orientation, an easily accessible recentering button will reposition you.
  • Enhanced Text + Image Display: Images with text should now appear clearer than ever.
  • Error Log Menu Update: The exit button in the error log menu now takes you back to app initialization.
  • Updated Module Select Button UI: Long titles now wrap to a new line and can be up to 75 characters in length.
  • Accessible Scrolling: The thumbstick is no longer used for scrolling. Instead, a scrollbar can be selected with gaze tracking or controllers.
  • Laser Enhancement: the controller laser no longer emanates from the center of the screen when the application first launches.
  • Intuitive Controller Interaction: All controller buttons can now trigger UI clicks

We hope you enjoy the new and improved Moth+Flame VR experience. Thank you for your continued support as we strive to make immersive learning more engaging and intuitive.
