Navigating Communication Style Charts

This article explains what communication style charts are and how to read them.

What are Communication Style Charts?

Each of our conversational experiences contains three or more ways to respond to character(s) within a scene. Each exchange with a character is counted as a response and each response is categorized as a type. These response types are called communication styles. For example, responses might be labeled "empathetic," "judgmental," or "passive," to name a few. A communication style chart shows aggregate metrics within a class. It displays how many responses fall under each communication style so that Administrators and Instructors can visualize how their Learners responded.

Where can I find a Communicaton Style Chart?

Only Admins and Instructors can view a communication style chart, which is available on the class performance page.
Go to the My Classes page (available at the top left menu) > Click on the class > select "View class performance"
Speak to your Customer Success Manager to request that this feature be enabled for one of your experiences, if it hasn't already been made available to you.

How to read a Communication Style Chart

The chart displays how Learners responded across the full experience as well as within each scene.   A color key of communication styles is shown at the top of the chart and each style is assigned a color. These colors, which correspond to their respective communication style, make up the horizontal bar graphs for the scenes, below. If the experience has a final outcome, decision outcomes will display in a different family of colors - typically light and dark grays.

Percentages are shown for each style of communication and for each final decision rendered. The number in parenthesis reflects the total responses of that type for a given scene/full experience. For example, let's say there is data for 1 session. This single session has 10 different responses within Scene 1. If 50 percent of responses were "empathetic" then the number in parenthesis for the empathetic communication style would be 5. So, that Learner chose the empathetic path 5 times in Scene 1.

If a given color segment is not wide enough to reflect the percentage or the number of responses in parenthesis, use your mouse to hover over the color segment to see this data.
